Home group makes U-turn on calls for top taxes

The Nationwide Meeting is making a U-turn on the 16 per cent Worth-Added Tax (VAT) on gas simply 5 months after elevating the tax, an motion that triggered a Sh35 rise within the worth of a litre of petrol since June.

This has been revealed in a report on the draft Nationwide Tax Coverage (NTP) by the Nationwide Meeting’s Finance Committee through which the committee has backtracked on its earlier help to the Nationwide Treasury to lift VAT on gas from eight per cent.
